A reflection by Ann M. Hampton
5 Minutes a Day

We’ve all heard that an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
Well 5 Minutes a Day can Keep Satan Away
The bible says “Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”. James 4:7 (WEB)
1 Peter 5:88 Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (WEB)
Let me ask you a question. How many things can you do in 5 minutes or less.
Below are a few suggestions I came up with.
0. Write a thank you card
1. Declutter an area
2. Mop or dust
3. Delete items in your phone
4. Make a phone call
5. Exercise, Meditation
6. Meal Prep
7. Delete unwanted emails
8. Water a plant
9. Social Media to check your likes.
I am sure if you thought about it you could come up with a lot more.
Now I want you to imagine that you are sitting in the comfort of your own home possibly watching a movie when suddenly an intruder does all that he can to try and find a way in.
You try to stop him but if you are not prepared ahead of time for just an occurrence, you are lost, and the damage is done.
That is the way it is with Satan. He is always looking for a door, window or some entry point to assault us spiritually. He sneaks through that crack in our mind to tell us it is okay to sin or if we have some issue make us believe that God does not care about us anyway. He can do this at any time but especially when you have your guard down or at the lowest point in your life.
As stated above James 4:7 tell us to “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”.
The question is how are we to go about resisting the devil when our lives are so busy? Can’t you give God, Creator of the Universe at least 5 minutes out of your day to keep Satan away? If so, you will find peace above all understanding, even during a storm.
You can do this by taking at least 5 minutes to:
1. Praying without ceasing. It does not have to be a long prayer.
2. Read a few bible verses.
3. Worship and praise God even while doing housework.
4. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance.
5. Study God’s Word, the Bible.
6. Put on the whole armor of God as stated in Ephesians 6:10-18.
7. Submit to God.
8. Take a few minutes to fast and repent.
9. Have Faith in the Creator.
I am sure that you can possibly come up with several other things to do in 5 minutes or under to stop the devil from coming in but keep in mind, the more you do, the harder he will try to break down that barrier. He will throw so many distractions like sickness to break you.
We are in the beginning of sorrow, and we need to be serious about our lives. We must stay alert and fight so that Satan cannot find and penetrate that entry point.
